# Are ASQ-3 results valid when a teacher completes the questionnaire rather than a caregiver or parent?

ASQ-3 was normed on 16,000 children, and the cutoff scores have extensive psychometric studies as evidence. Parents/caregivers and professionals who spend 15–20 hours per week with the child can usually accurately score ASQ-3. However, ASQ-3 is intended to be a parent-completed questionnaire, so professionals should not replace parents/caregivers unless necessary. Parents and professionals can also work as partners to complete ASQ-3 on a child together. Results from a professional who does not spend 15–20 hours per week should be carefully reviewed, and a child can be rescreened if needed within a 2–3 month time period.
